In 2017, I had the opportunity to co-host a songwriting camp for middle school and high school kids. I was really taken by how much their collaboration with each other unlocked new untapped creativity in each individual. Up until that point, all of my songwriting had been done solo, and I wondered how a group setting would enhance and augment my own process.
After attending various open mics and speaking with other songwriters, it became clear that I was not the only one who was searching for a like-minded community to share and collaborate with. It seemed there were many “bedroom songwriters” out there who desired something bigger. On January 28th, 2018, after much procrastination, the Northeast Ohio Musicians and Songwriters Collaboration was created. Its main purpose being to facilitate and encourage the creation of music through various collaborative efforts.
Our ultimate goal is to to create events and opportunities for musicians and songwriters of every skill level. Classes/workshops for beginners, showcase opportunities for up-and-comers, and a network of paid gigs for our professional level community.
This entire collaboration is fueled by the energy and enthusiasm of local artists, so please contribute and let us know what you need!
